Born in approximately 1896, Eva Esfeld was one of three daughters to parents Max and Jenny Esfeld. Her father immigrated from Poland to the United States in approximately 1903 and the family joined him in 1907. In 1909, they traveled to Seattle to take part in the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition, and took up residence in the Settlement House. The Esfelds were part of the Herzl Congregation.
